PRECAST CONCRETE DRAINAGE CHANNELS PREFERRED FOR ABALONE FARM UPGRADE

South Africa’s largest abalone producer, Abagold, has installed drainage channels constructed with precast concrete sections manufactured by CMA member, Concrete Units. The installation forms part of an upgrade of Abagold’s Bersig Farm, established in Hermanus in 2002 as Abagold’s second abalone farm.

REBUILDING HISTORIC STELLENBOSCH BRIDGE WITH PRECAST CONCRETE BEAMS

The old bridge over the Plankenbrug River (formerly Dwars River) in Stellenbosch is being rebuilt by Martin & East (Pty) Ltd with nine precast concrete beams supplied by Concrete Manufacturers Association member, Cape Concrete. Designed by Infrastructure consultancy, AECOM SA (Pty) Ltd, the first of this two-phase project was completed in August and the second is scheduled for completion in December 2022.

REVELSTONE - A TROPHY WINNER IN THE CMA’S 2022 AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE COMPETITION

Cape-based cast-stone manufacturer, Revelstone, has won three awards in this year’s Concrete Manufacturers Association Awards for Excellence competition. Winning the Beauty for Life and the Wet-cast stone award categories, the former award achieved further distinction by being elevated to trophy status by the judges, one of only four overall category winners to achieve this accolade.

PRECAST CONCRETE CHOSEN FOR STEENBRAS WELLFIELD PROJECT

The City of Cape Town has embarked on a project to bolster the City’s water supply by accessing groundwater from the Table Mountain Group (TMG) Aquifer in the area surrounding the existing Steenbras Dam.
